In today’s digital world, young people are constantly exposed to large amounts of information through social media, websites, and online platforms. While digital technologies create opportunities for learning and connection, they also increase the spread of misinformation, fake news, and manipulative online content. Developing digital literacy and media awareness is therefore essential for helping young people think critically, verify information, and make informed decisions online.
Through the CIVIC project, participants will strengthen their ability to recognize misinformation, fact-check online sources, and responsibly navigate digital spaces. During virtual exchanges, workshops, and collaborative activities, young people from different countries will discuss real-life examples of misinformation, explore tools for verifying online content, and learn how media influences opinions and public discourse. By engaging in interactive learning and dialogue, participants will build critical thinking skills and become more confident digital citizens capable of contributing positively to online communities.
The project also encourages young people to reflect on their own online behavior and understand the impact of sharing unverified information. Through teamwork, discussions, and creative digital activities, participants will gain practical skills that support responsible media consumption and strengthen resilience against online manipulation and polarization.
