The CIVIC project was officially launched during the kick-off meeting held in Leuven, Belgium, from 21–23 April 2026. Representatives of partner organizations from across Europe and the Western Balkans gathered to mark the beginning of this important international initiative focused on digital citizenship, civic engagement, and intercultural dialogue among young people.
Hosted by UCLL – University Colleges Leuven-Limburg, the three-day meeting brought together universities, youth organizations, and educational institutions involved in the project consortium. The event provided an opportunity for partners to present their organizations, discuss project objectives, define upcoming activities, and strengthen cooperation for the implementation of the project.
Throughout the meeting, partners worked on establishing the project’s management structure, communication strategy, and work plan for the upcoming months. Special attention was given to the development of virtual exchange activities, youth participation methods, digital learning tools, and dissemination strategies that will support the project’s long-term impact.
The CIVIC project aims to empower young people through innovative virtual exchange activities that promote critical thinking, digital literacy, democratic participation, and intercultural understanding. By bringing together participants from different countries and backgrounds, the project seeks to create inclusive online spaces where youth can collaborate, exchange ideas, and develop skills needed for today’s digital society.
The launch meeting in Leuven marked the beginning of a strong international partnership committed to supporting active citizenship, digital resilience, and youth engagement across Europe and the Western Balkans.
Funded by the European Commission under the Erasmus+ Virtual Exchange programme, CIVIC will continue over the coming years through training activities, virtual exchanges, youth-led campaigns, and collaborative educational initiatives involving partner organizations and young people from the region.
